Economic Diplomacy 2104-M-D4DYEK-MPH
The aim of the classes is to familiarize students with the most important theoretical issues in the field of modern economic diplomacy. Due to changes in international economic relations and the evolution of the subjective and objective structure of the international environment, the role of economic interests in implementing the state's foreign policy is increasing. The classes include an analysis of the tasks and tools of commercial and economic diplomacy as well as the activities of new entities in international economic relations. Theoretical considerations will be extended with a case study and will include an analysis of models, organizational systems and tools of economic diplomacy of Poland, the European Union, the United States and China. The mechanisms of economic diplomacy, the role of non-state entities and contemporary trends in economic diplomacy will be discussed. This will be supplemented by the issue of national branding and branding strategies of selected countries.

KNOWLEDGE:
W_01: A student makes informed judgments and is able to describe an evolution of the structure of economic international environment, as well as the evolution of the diplomatic tools in the face of changes in international economic relations.
W_02: A student is able to explain the tools and objectives of modern economic diplomacy at the multilateral (global, regional) and bilateral level.
W_03: A student understands and is able to explain the specific characteristics of economic diplomacy in developed, as well as emerging economies.
W_04: A student indicates the conditining and tools of economic diplomacy in international conflicts and the role and types of international economic sanctions.
SKILLS:
U_01: A student uses theoretical knowledge of economic diplomacy to critically evaluate the current international situation.
U_02: A student makes informed judgments and formulates hypotheses necessary for the description of the conditioning and mechanisms of economic diplomacy in Poland, and other (discussed in class) countries.
COMPETENCIES:
K_01 A student demonstrates a thoughtful assessment and an ability to draw conclusions from contemporary international events.

Assessment criteria
Course assessment weighting: Final test covering 100% of the coursework (70% of the final grade); active participation in class discussion and individual project/presentation (30% of the final grade).
