The course covers the following thematic blocks:
1. Theoretical aspects of lobbying - concept, basic principles, techniques and methods of managing relations with public institutions and interest groups.
2. Analysis of the legal basis for lobbying activities in the law-making process. Rights and obligations of a lobbyist.
3. Characteristics of the legislative process.
4. Lobbying in practice - challenges in the work of a professional lobbyist and ways of dealing with them.
5. Characteristics of social dialogue - concept, types, principles.
6. Legal basis for conducting social dialogue in Poland.
7. Social dialogue at the European Union level as a basic element of the social model.
8. Practical aspects of social dialogue - historical context, contemporary role and recommendations for the future.

Learning outcomes
During the classes, students become familiar with issues related to lobbying, interest advocacy and social dialogue. They learn the theory, in particular the conceptual scope, principles and types of influence, as well as practical aspects, mainly the opportunities and threats of lobbying activities in the law-making process. Students gain knowledge about legal regulations in this field and processes taking place in reality.
Knowledge:
Student:
- knows the terminology describing lobbying, advocacy and social dialogue;
- is familiar with legal provisions regulating the issues of lobbying, advocacy and social dialogue;
- has knowledge of the main actors, institutions, processes and relationships related to lobbying activities and social dialogue.
Skills
Student:
- is able to identify entities and the scope of activities related to lobbying, advocacy and social dialogue; is able to determine the role and specificity of individual institutions;
- is able to define and characterize the forms, methods and techniques used in the process of lobbying and social dialogue;
- can analyze source materials and draw conclusions, be familiar with the law-making process; identify threats, indicate strengths and weaknesses in the area of lobbying and social dialogue.
Competencies
Student:
- is prepared to work or cooperate as an expert in institutions operating in the field of lobbying, advocacy and social dialogue.

Assessment criteria
The assessment consists of two parts:
- activity during classes (including preparing presentations, short written works, participating in discussions) - 20%
- written test - 80%.
