Social services 2103-L-D5SLSP
Course in Polish.
Social services provide social support. They are institutions, organised groups, as well as individuals (functioning in various organisational structures) carrying out social work in the broadest sense. They are distinguished from other entities of social policy by: direct contact with persons using their services; individualisation of goals and methods of action; preceding interventions with a diagnosis of the needs and possibilities of individuals, families and collectivities intended to be beneficiaries of social services; reacting in situations in which common procedures developed in a given society for satisfying needs and solving problems of individuals, families, groups fail; focusing on those needs of individuals, groups and collectivities which are important for their social functioning, being members of society.
The course discusses detailed organisational and legal solutions of social services involved in solving various social problems, such as: unemployment, social exclusion, disability, inefficiency of raising families, domestic violence, crime. Students also learn about the formation process of helping professions in Poland and selected elements of social work methodology.
