The history of social questions and social policy 2103-L-D2HKSP
The seminar is devoted to a detailed discussion of the origins of social policy and social issues. Preparation requires time to read the assigned readings. During the classes, the concept of social policy and social issues (various definitions) will be discussed. Then, the occurrence of social issues in Poland in different periods will be generally indicated. The next classes will be devoted to demographic problems (including migration), and then the following issues will be discussed: agrarian (peasant), poverty, unemployment, housing, education, free time, national minorities, health, ecological, as well as the problem of equality between women and men and social pathologies. The classes will end with a discussion of forecasts regarding social policy and the determinants of individual social issues.

Learning outcomes
After completing the classes, the student is able to define what social policy and social issues are, as well as characterize individual social issues, taking into account regional specificity and time of occurrence. Is able to indicate the factors causing the occurrence of selected social issues and ways of mitigating or overcoming them. Is able to assess the impact of social issues on particular social groups.
Assessment criteria
Assessment criteria: Classes are conducted in the form of a seminar, which requires reading the readings.
After the first semester, there is a final test on the material covered.
The classes end with a written exam for grades.
