Methodology of Political Science 2102-L-Z1MEPO
The main objective of the course is to awaken and develop sociological imagination and political science student. It consists of knowledge, skills and competence. The student will be provided with knowledge about the concepts of sociological and political science, formulation and adequate use of concepts in the description and analysis of social processes and phenomena in micro- and macrosociology, social statics and dynamics. After completing the course, students should be adequately and multifaceted identify basic social problems and make their analysis in terms of: the relationship between sociology and politics, cultural foundations of social life, the relationship between the citizen and society, modern changes of identity, the individual in micro- and macrostructures, political culture , ethnic problems, pathology political and social life, as well as political participation. During the course the student will also acquire competence in recognizing the fundamental dilemmas of modern democracy. Classes are taught actively seek sources of facts about social phenomena and processes and their synthesizing.

KNOWLEDGE
EK1 - has a general knowledge of the nature of political science and its relation to other social and natural sciences as well as to humanities (W01)
EK2 - knows the political science research directions and their relationships with research in other social sciences (W09)
SKILLS
EK3 - Can use theoretical knowledge of political science and related disciplines in order to analyze and interpret phenomena and processes in the area of policy (U03)
EK4 - In accordance with the principle of lifelong learning students learn basic social science methods and are able to gain in-depth knowledge of selected research techniques by means of independent study (U05).
COMPETENCE
EK6 - Correctly identifies and resolves dilemmas related to the practice of the profession with regard to the choice of the right research techniques (K05)
