During the course, the student:
- has acquired basic knowledge of the field to which the master's thesis topic belongs;
- has acquired detailed knowledge of the subject of the master's thesis;
- is familiar with the latest literature on the subject;
- knows the methods and techniques necessary to complete the task defined by the thesis topic;
- is able to formulate the research task and the purpose of the thesis, identify problems and research questions;
- is able to develop appropriate research methods and techniques necessary to complete the topic and apply them in their own research;
- is able to interpret and analyze the obtained results, drawing conclusions from them;
- is able to logically structure the text of the master's thesis;
- has mastered the skill of writing a scientific text
- independently poses questions and problems and seeks answers.

In terms of knowledge: The graduate knows and understands the nature and specificity of political science and its relationship to other social sciences (K_W01);
In terms of skills: The graduate is able to:
- recognize the causes and course of, and forecast, phenomena related to politics; is able to examine and explain the role of social, economic, and cultural structures in the contemporary world (K_U01);
- use basic theoretical approaches and research methods and techniques to diagnose and forecast various phenomena in politics (K_U03);
- independently acquire knowledge and develop professional skills using various sources and advanced information and communication technologies (K_U05);
- present their own ideas, justify them, and confront them with the views of other students and various authors (K_U06);
- prepare oral and written presentations on specific issues in political science using basic theoretical approaches and a variety of sources in English (K_U08);
In terms of social competences, the graduate is ready to:

- and, in addition, to properly identify and resolve dilemmas related to the practice of their profession, including ethical aspects (K_K02);
- and to observe and critically evaluate political phenomena of various nature and perceive their mutual relations and interdependencies (K_K03).
Assessment criteria
BA diploma thesis requirements. Methods and techniques of research in political science. Techniques of drafting the diploma thesis. Finalizing BA diploma writing.
The diploma thesis is prepared in accordance with the guidelines set out in Resolution No. 4 of the University Council for Education at the University of Warsaw of February 27, 2020, and the diploma principles set out by the Academic Council of the Faculty of Political Science (WNPiSM) (Resolution 11/2025) of May 7, 2025, regarding detailed rules for the use of artificial intelligence tools in the educational process for the Undergraduate Programme in Political Science.
With regard to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation of the diploma thesis, the principles set out in Resolution No. 98 of the University Council for Education at the University of Warsaw of December 8, 2023, regarding guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence tools in the educational process, and in Resolution No. 29/2025 (Resolution 11/2025) of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Political Science of May 7, 2025, regarding detailed rules for the use of artificial intelligence tools in the educational process, apply. The student confirms the scope of use of AI tools by submitting a declaration in accordance with the applicable template.
Practical placement
The use of AI tools and technologies supporting language processing is allowed only with the approval of the instructor and after agreeing on the scope of their use in accordance with Resolution No. 29/2025 of the Didactic Council of the CISM.
