1. Content management – document layout, styles, content formatting, tables, charts, figures, etc.
2. Automation – sections, headings, footnotes, tables of contents/figures/tables, etc., mail merge, cross-references, objects, macros, etc.
3. Review – tracking mode, comments, comparing two documents, merging, etc.
4. Literature Manager – managing bibliography and footnotes in a document.
5. Teamwork.
6. Document inspection, security, import/export of various file formats, keyboard shortcuts, etc.
The part is based on software selected by the teacher, e.g. MS Word (on-premise/on-line), Open/Libre Office Writer, Google Docs, etc.
Spreadsheet
1. Data management – data entry and editing, relative and absolute addressing, sorting, searching, deduplication, formatting, charts, etc.
2. Calculations - performing calculations, formulas and functions, pivottable, operations on multiple sheets, etc.
3. Advanced functionality – macro basics, Solver (Excel only).
4. Processing large data sets (Excel only).
5. Teamwork.
6. Document inspection, security, import/export of various file formats, keyboard shortcuts, etc.
The part is based on software selected by the teacher, e.g. MS Excel (on-premise/on-line), Open/Libre Office Calc, Google Sheets etc.
Multimedia presentations
1. Presentation construction – presentation template, slide collection, slide, content management on slides, embedding multimedia (images, sounds, video).
2. Elements of slide animations and transitions between slides.
3. Timing.
4. Document inspection, security, import/export of various file formats, keyboard shortcuts, etc.
The part is based on software selected by the teacher, e.g. MS PowerPoint (on-premise/on-line), Open/Libre Office Impress, Google Slides, Prezi etc.
Content Management System
1. Introduction to building a CMS (Content Management System).
2. Configuration of the CMS system – graphic design, navigation – (menus, pages, subpages, etc.), users, plugins and CMS extensions.
3. Article/post management in CMS.
4. Inserting multimedia elements: photos, sounds, videos, objects from social media (sharing).
5. Elements of website construction in CMS.
6. CMS security, data import/export, backup, etc.
The part is based on software selected by the teacher, e.g. CMS Wordpress, Google Sites, WIX etc.
Literature Manager
1. Introduction to the functionality of the literature manager.
2. Sources of scientific, popular and non-scientific information.
3. Identifiers of scientific publications: DOI, PubMed ID, ISBN, ISSN, arXiv, itp.
4. Citation styles np. Chicago, Harvard, APA, etc.
5. Copyright/License Issues.
6. Literature management in the manager application.
7. Integration of the literature manager with the text editor.
8. Advanced features overview.
The part is based on software selected by the teacher, e.g. Zotero - open-source research tool, Mendeley - Reference Management Software or equivalent.
Additional topic to choose from
A topic in the field of information technology proposed by the teacher and chosen by students (maximum 2h).
Examples of topics to choose from:
1. password managers;
2. Tor network;
3. advanced web browser;
4. online streaming tools;
5. API in social media;
6. another topic proposed by students and accepted by the teacher.
Remark
In case of use software other than MS Office and CMS Wordpress, not all of topics described above may be possible to realized. In this case, the teacher must make the appropriate modification of the scope of topics adequate to the tools used.

After completing the course, students:
KNOWLEDGE:
1. knows the functionalities available in a text editor, spreadsheet, presentation program, CMS system, etc.
2. knows the possibilities and limitations of the applications.
3. has knowledge in the field of sources of scientific, popular science and non-scientific information.
4. has basic knowledge in the field of copyright and licensing.
5. knows the basics of safe work in the above-mentioned tools.
SKILLS:
1. can create complex text documents, spreadsheets, multimedia presentations.
2. can perform calculations and data analysis in spreadsheets.
3. can support basic CMS class systems.
4. can create and manage his own database of scientific, popular, and non-scientific publications.
can work in a team.
OTHER COMPETENCES:
1. The student has competence in the substantive processing of digital information in popular applications.
2. The student has the competence to transfer the acquired knowledge to other people.
3. The student has competence in the development of various types of digital documents such as: reports, studies, analyzes, diploma theses, publications, project documents, instructions, presentations, etc.
4. The student has competence in managing a simple website.
Assessment criteria
Method of passing the course – implementation of tasks during the semester, activity in classes.
Final grade - weighted average:
1. implementation of tasks during the semester (weight 70%)
2. attendance and activity in classes (weight 30%)
