Christian Anthropology, or Man in the Bible and in the Church 2101-L-MON-ACBK
Lecture aims to present the main trends occurring in self-understanding of Christians. Biblical-theological conception of the human person: spirit, soul and body - synonyms or components? The rainbow as a key to understanding the covenant between the Creator and creation. Is the human soul immortal and the body is always fatal? The dogma of original sin as a description of the moral condition of man. Where is heaven, hell, purgatory, Limbo Patrum and puerorum, and how to get there? The creation and salvation - two separate processes or one? Evolution and creationism, what's is next with the man and the cosmos? Apocalypse according to St. John the Apostle - the prophecy about the tragic end of all things, or an optimistic description of our everyday life? Communication ways of human and God. Is the division of reality into the sacred and the profane sense? The mystic as a realist and creator of culture.

KNOWLEDGE
The student knows the biblical basis for cosmology and theological anthropology. He knows the major issues of eschatology and soteriology. He knows the differences in approach to the human person in terms of biblical and Platonic dualism.
SKILLS
After completing the lecture the student should obtain knowledge of the evolution of the concept of the human person, starting from the Bible, Jewish and Christian, until modern times. This knowledge will enable students to obtain the more complete overview of the problems facing the modern man.
