The course covers selected legal issues related to the protection of intellectual property, including institutions of private law (legal entities, representation, legal actions, property and other rights in rem, sources of obligations, types and types of civil law contracts, principles of civil law liability and types of inheritance and acquisition of inheritance rights). Sources of law in the protection of intellectual property, including sources of international law and sources of Polish law. Protection of intellectual property by copyright and related rights, including copyright, related rights (rights to artistic performances, rights to phonograms and videograms, rights to recordings of programs, rights to first editions and scientific and critical editions) and protection of databases. Protection of industrial property, including: inventions, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, geographical indications and topographies of integrated circuits, and legal protection of plant varieties.
Combating unfair competition, including: entrepreneurial and enterprise designations, protection against unfair competition. Forms of sharing intellectual property. Internet and intellectual property protection and scientific dishonesty. Civil proceedings and protection of intellectual property. Criminal proceedings vs. protection of intellectual property. Different types of administrative proceedings and the protection of intellectual property. Disciplinary proceedings and their consequences for the protection of intellectual property. Activities of international organizations for the protection of intellectual property.

The student is obliged to attend classes.
Permissible number of absences: 2.
Excused absences are made up for by preparing a short case study regarding the infringement of intellectual property rights (1–2 pages).
Unexcused absences are made up for by preparing a summary of a selected legal act from the mandatory reading list.
