Full description:
The aim of this lecture is to provide knowledge on the theoretical aspects of social security: defining the concept, selected issues related to social security, threats to social security, the role of the state and the social sector in maintaining social security. Particular emphasis is placed on the main contemporary issues related to social security, the role and responsibilities of public administration and social sector entities in Poland in the field of social security, and the prospects for improving social security. The lecture discusses the main threats to social security, including those related to the labor market, unemployment, poverty, homelessness, and social pathologies.

Learning outcomes
K_W02 knows and understands the social factors affecting internal security and is able to assess the interdependencies between them.
K_W03 knows and understands the fundamental dimensions of social security, the relationships between them, and their impact on internal security in contemporary Poland.
K_W05 knows and understands the tensions, conflicts, and crises arising in the social dimension, their causes, and methods of monitoring and overcoming them.
K_W07 knows and understands threats to social security, their determinants in contemporary Poland, and methods for resolving crisis situations. K_W08 knows and understands the importance of social ties in ensuring social security, both at the level of a small community and at the national level.
K_U03 has the ability to critically analyze and assess the state of social security and is able to resolve crisis situations in the area of social security.
K_K05 is ready to analyze and interpret the social processes that shape social security, particularly in the area of citizen-community relations; is able to use registers and databases that collect information useful in building social security.
