(in Polish) Prywatny sektor bezpieczeństwa 2100-BW-L-D3PSBE
As part of the course Private Security Sector, students become acquainted
with entities outside the state administration which are active in the field of
national security, including on the international stage. The subject matter of
the classes relates to the analysis of the most visible instances of private
security sector activity in everyday life – ranging from private security
companies, detective services, training and analytical firms, and grassroots
civic initiatives, through to private military companies.
Scholarly reflection (both theoretical and practical) will also address such
issues as private prisons, the support provided by non-governmental
organisations to state administration in the face of crisis management
challenges, and the evolution of police and law enforcement forces in the
context of the deepening privatisation of security.
During the course, students will also have the opportunity to engage in
discussions on the significance of the private security sector in relation to
the functioning of a democratic state and the legal conditions of security
privatisation. The subject matter considered in this course concerns both
Polish legal regulations and forms of operation of the private security sector
within Poland, as well as solutions adopted worldwide, with particular
reference to the USA, the United Kingdom, and selected member states of
the European Union.
