K_W01 - In-depth understanding of selected facts, objects, and phenomena related to urban studies, as well as the methods and theories related to them that explain the complex interrelationships between them, constituting advanced general knowledge in the scientific disciplines that form the theoretical foundations of urban studies, organized and theoretically grounded knowledge encompassing selected issues within the scope of advanced detailed knowledge appropriate for urban studies;

K_W02 - Main development trends in socio-economic geography and spatial management, economics, sociological sciences, history, cultural sciences, political and administrative sciences, and earth and environmental sciences, to the extent to which these disciplines are related to urban studies;

K_W03 - Fundamental dilemmas of contemporary civilization in the development of cities;

K_U01 - Formulate and solve complex and unusual problems and innovatively perform tasks in the field of urban studies under unpredictable conditions by appropriately selecting sources and information derived from them, evaluating, critically analyzing, synthesizing, creatively interpreting, and presenting this information;

K_U03 - Formulate and test hypotheses related to simple research problems in urban studies.

K_U05 - Conduct debates on urban development;

K_K01 - Critically evaluate existing knowledge and received content in urban studies;

K_K05 - Think and act entrepreneurially; KNOWLEDGE

Students:

1. are familiar with various definitions and concepts related to urban space,
2. are familiar with unrealized urban plans and concepts for Warsaw's public spaces,
3. are familiar with the most important historical public spaces in selected Polish, European, and American cities,
4. understand the diversity of urban forms,
5. are familiar with basic studies on urban planning and urban evolution.

SKILLS

Students:
1. are able to characterize Warsaw's most important public spaces against the background of the city's history,
2. are able to identify and describe the most important urban inspirations from other geographical spaces in the evolution of Warsaw and other Polish cities,
3. recognize the dependence of transportation solutions on the form of urban space,
4. are able to identify the elements and significance of small-scale architecture in public spaces,
5. are able to identify key turning points in the history of global urban planning.

COMPETENCIES

Students:
1. are ready to prepare a scientific or popular science text and present a topic related to urban planning and the evolution of space in a presentation.

The final exam takes the form of a closed test (25 questions) - 50% of the final grade and one open, problem-solving question related to the issues discussed in class - 50%.
