Learning outcomes
KNOWLEDGE - the student knows:
1. basic conditions of shaping the economic order; knows basic research methods of economic geography.
2. basic processes occurring in the space of the city and urban region (historical-urban perspective); knows what needs they generate for planning practice, management and policy processes, and understands their impact on the social and economic costs of space
3. Knows and understands methods and theories in the social sciences necessary
in spatial management
SKILLS - the student is able to:
1. draw conclusions about the level of economic development of regions and relate them to major theoretical concepts; can apply basic research methods.
2. use basic knowledge to forecast, plan, observe and analyse spatial phenomena, and then explain their causes and mutual interrelations
3. indicate optimal, from the point of view of public interest, location of various investment projects, including infrastructure projects, as well as areas whose natural and cultural environment should be protected
4. inform clearly and precisely (using specialist terminology) about spatial phenomena and processes, and present them to various audiences, including decision makers and the public
COMPETENCIES - The student is prepared to:
1. evaluation and application of knowledge in planning practice in the form of analysis and description
2. to actively participate in cooperation between local authorities, other decision makers, economic entities and inhabitants, including coordination of actions taken by these entities in space
Assessment criteria
The final grade for the course is based on the exam grade and a pass mark for the graded exercises.
Exercise grades are based on class work, activity and homework completion. Work - as a rule - takes place in teams.
One absence from practice is allowed.
Credit for the lecture is based on a test containing open and technically closed questions. The lecture may be taken by a person who has a credit from exercises. Passing of the lecture is possible after obtaining more than 50% of the points from the test.
