Conditions of local and regional development 1900-3-URL-GL-W
The classes will cover the following issues: a) regional and local development in the context of the mental health of residents, b) natural disasters and armed conflicts as a catalyst for changes in regional and local development, c) regional and local development in the face of the water crisis and climate disaster, d) indebtedness of states as a barrier to local and regional development, e) "unusual" activation of social groups for development, f) tourism as an opportunity and barrier to development, g) international networks of cities as a new management and development trend in the face of the crisis of globalization, h) potential conflicts over space in selected regions of Poland in the face of the adopted development strategies. As part of the course, a critical analysis of the principles and activities related to sustainable development will also be undertaken.
The classes take the form of a seminar, so they consist of both lectures (longer and shorter) by the teacher and exercises carried out by students (individually and in a group) during classes and at home. The final written paper concerns potential conflicts over space for a selected region of Poland in the short and medium term, taking into account the adopted - national and EU - development strategies.
The above-mentioned items are not the titles of individual classes, but describe the topics covered within the course (not necessarily in order). There is a possibility of minor modifications to the content of the classes depending on the preferences of students.
The estimated number of hours that the student must spend to achieve the learning outcomes defined for the subject. 1 ECTS (30 hours) - hours in direct contact with the teacher, i.e. listening to lectures, participation in discussions and exercises during classes in groups; 1 ECTS (25 hours) - student's own contribution, i.e. preparation for a 45-minute oral (independent) speech on a topic of their choice along with the development of a multimedia presentation, 1 ECTS (25 hours) - student's own contribution, i.e. making a written final paper (3-page A4: no bibliography, 12 TNR, 1.5 line spacing, 2.5 margins).
