The urban natural system 1900-1-SPM-SF
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the ecological, social and economic functions of green areas in the city. Urban ecosystem services concept will be used. Students will inventory green areas in selected areas, define their services, identify basic conflicts, plan optimal management methods. An important element of the project work is identifying conflicts and tensions related to the use and management of urban green areas – including development pressure, conflicting expectations of different user groups, as well as maintenance, accessibility and safety issues. Based on the results of their analysis, students develop proposals for management and design measures aimed at optimising the functions performed by these areas and increasing their resilience to climate change and urbanisation pressure.
