Research management: publication strategies 1600-SZD-ZBN-SP
The PhD students will be familiarized with the requirements of Polish law concerning scientific publishing, and good international practices in the field of scientific publications will be presented. Recommendations for devising a publication strategy will be provided, considering the assessment of scientific activity's quality and increasing visibility within the international scientific community. Students will acquire knowledge on assessing journal quality and retrieving information on citations, H-index, impact factors, and the prestige of journals. Furthermore, they will be introduced to the SCOPUS and WoS databases, in addition to the national list of journals and publishers. The significance of scientific monographs and international criteria for evaluating scientific journals (including COPE, IF, SNIP) will be thoroughly explored, and the matter of "predatory journals" will also be addressed. The process of submitting and evaluating a research article, as well as the structure of scientific papers and the review procedures in reputable journals, will be examined.
