Phd student seminar - Law 1600-SZD-SDOK-NP
The main purpose of the classes is to provide support in the process of preparing a doctoral dissertation – both in terms of content and methodology.
The presentation of research topics is accompanied by a broad discussion, in which the lecturers and participants of the seminar present their suggestions and comments on the presented topics.
Before the classes, the participants are provided with materials that, on the one hand, are intended to introduce to the issues covered by the classes, and on the other hand, to present the current state of work on the doctoral dissertation.
Particular attention is paid to the following issues:
• justification of the purposefulness of the choice of the topic, including the choice and importance of the topic of the work and the formulation of the topic of the work;
• the purpose of the doctoral dissertation, including the research purpose as well as questions and hypotheses;
• research methodology and research methods;
• theoretical and practical significance of the doctoral dissertation;
• the structure of the work and the most important conclusions.

Assessment criteria
Description of requirements related to participation in classes, including the
permitted number of explained absences:
Stationary participation in classes; 2 allowable absences.
Principles for passing the classes and the subject (including resit session):
Presentation of the selected topic and preparation of a synthesis (project of a self-report) of the doctoral dissertation and active participation in classes by asking questions and formulating conclusions.
Methods for the verification of learning outcomes:
Learning outcomes are verified by observation and interview.
Evaluation criteria
- proper formulation and implementation of substantive and methodological assumptions;
- degree of activity and involvement.

A detailed list of literature is provided to participants in relation to individual topics before classes.
