The aim of the course is to introduce the issues of scientific thinking, including a review of the concepts of understanding such terms as science, scientific method, research process, scientific paradigm / disciplines, method and methodology, organization of research workshops; the classes constitute an introduction to the subject "theoretical foundations of social communication and media studies".

WG_1 – to the extent enabling the revision of existing paradigms - global achievements, covering the foundations of scientific thinking, in particular in the field of social communication and media science

UW_1 - use knowledge from various fields of science, in particular social sciences, to creatively identify, formulate and innovatively solve complex problems or perform research tasks, and in particular: define the purpose and subject of scientific research in the discipline of social communication and media science, formulate research hypothesis, develop methods, techniques and research tools and apply them creatively, draw conclusions based on the results of scientific research
UK_1 - communicate on specialist topics to the extent that enables active participation in the international scientific community in the field of social communication and media sciences
Social competences: Is ready to:
KK_1 - critical assessment of achievements within the discipline of social communication and media studies
Assessment criteria
description of requirements related to participation in classes, including the permitted number of explained absences: preparation for classes based on reading; one absence is allowed.
principles for passing the classes and the subject (including resit session): pass based on the current assessment of activity during classes and the assessment of the final interview (resit pass: interview taking into account separately developed issues)
methods for the verification of learning outcomes; oral examination
evaluation criteria: according to standard, traditional academic principles
