Methodology of psychological research 1600-SZD-N-MBP-PS
The course is designed as an introduction to understanding the process of knowledge building. It starts with elements of the philosophy of science (The scientific truth is introduced as the adequacy between the theoretical model and observed world). The structure of the research process in psychology will base on a distinction between exploratory and confirmatory research (their structure, principles and data analysis strategy). The measurement theory block will include the assumptions, classic and IRT model. Fundamental relations between methodology and statistical analysis are discussed. The concluding block cover metanalysis methodology and the relationship between science and social environment, based on innovation diffusion theory.
