History of education 1600-SZD-N-HMP-PED
Classes in the form of a conversation lecture (seminar) introduce the PhD student of the Doctoral School of Social Sciences of the University of Warsaw to the history of education and pedagogical thought in a chronological order. PhD students present the basic forms and organization of education on selected examples - in particular those related to the topic of the doctoral dissertation. They are to shape the PhD student's in-depth analytical humanistic and pedagogical thinking, familiarize them with the criticism of various types of sources. In addition, they develop the skills of critical reading of the literature on the subject and independent, critical attitude to contemporary educational phenomena in Poland and Europe.

WG_01 - to the extent necessary for existing paradigms to be revised - a worldwide body of work, covering theoretical foundations as well as general and selected specific issues - relevant to a particular discipline within the social sciences
WG_02 - the main development trends in the disciplines of the social sciences in which the education is provided
WG_03 - scientific research methodology in the field of the social sciences
WK_01 - fundamental dilemmas of modern civilisation from the perspective of the social sciences
WK_02 - economic, legal, ethical and other relevant determinants of scientific activity in the field of the social sciences
Skills: Can:
UW_01 - make use of knowledge from various fields of science, in particular the social sciences in order to creatively identify, formulate and innovatively solve complex problems or perform tasks of a research nature, and in particular to: - define the purpose and object of scientific research in the field of the social sciences, formulate a research hypothesis, - develop research methods, techniques and tools and apply them creatively, - make inferences based on scientific findings
UW_02 - critically analysing and evaluating the results of scientific research in the field of the social sciences, expert and other creative work and their contribution to the advancement of knowledge.

KK_01 - critically evaluating achievements within a given scientific discipline in the field of the social sciences
KK_02 - critically assessing one's own contribution to the development of a scientific discipline
KK_03 - recognising the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems within a specific discipline in the field of the social sciences
Assessment criteria
Description of requirements related to participation in classes, including the
permitted number of explained absences;
Two absences are allowed. Credit is based on preparing one presentation during one class under the supervision of the instructor.
Principles for passing the classes and the subject (including resit session);
Presentation during classes combined with active participation in the discussion.
