The classes are planned as a discussion around proposed sources of various types divided into categories, such as:
1. Socialization into male and female roles; problems of upbringing in the family and in the public world; gender order and its social assimilation in the Polish People's Republic;
2. Problems of women's social advancement; the world of propaganda ideas and the realities of work and everyday life in the Stalinist era; education and acquiring professional competences; cultural problems of changing the social position of women;
3. Professional work and family life; the scope of women's participation in the division of labor, motivations and barriers on career paths; the problem of reconciling the social roles of an employee, wife and mother;
4. Women and marriage; post-war marital law and matrimonial selection; selection and migration and changes in life situation; expectations towards a candidate for a wife and a candidate for a husband; the routine of marital life and women's aspirations;
5. The image of a woman; body and appearance patterns in the public and private world; press iconography and private (family) sources; the importance of fashion and promoted patterns;
6. City and countryside; migrations and the attractiveness of urban culture; changes in the female farmer model;
7. Spiritual culture and emotions; the importance of religiosity in women's upbringing and social life; the influence of the Catholic Church on women's beliefs, attitudes and fears;
8. Women's economic activity; resourcefulness and productivity; the importance of family in economic activities; the scope of women's possible independence in the PRL economy;
9. The economy of shortage and women; everyday burdens and festive agency;
10. Violence against women in the PRL; forms of violence and the scope of counteraction; cultural, economic and political forms of violence and domination.
The categories presented are of a debatable nature and can be supplemented or replaced according to the will of the participants. It is desirable to present your own thematic proposals. For each topic, the instructor will propose various sources, the selection of which is an element of the discussion during the preceding classes.
