(in Polish) Teorie aktów mowy - interpretacje i zastosowania 1500-SZD-TAMIIZ
Modern linguistic pragmatics has been searching for a theory that includes and explains all aspects and manifestations of utterance meaning. The most important approaches to Austin’s speech action theory, including critical proposals from language philosophy, will be the subject of this course.
The following topics will be discussed in detail, although the individual themes could be adapted to the interests and needs of the participants:
1. Pragmatics as a field of linguistic research
2. Precursors of speech act theory
3. Austin: locution, illocution, perlocution
4. Searle: classification of illocutions
5. Propositional content: conventionalists vs. contextualists
6. Propositional content vs. illocutionary force
7. Illocutionary indicators
8. Illocutionary intentions
9. Indirect speech acts
10. Perlocutionary effects
11. Interactional speech act theory
12. Speech acts in discourse context
13. Fictional utterances as pretended assertions
The following didactic methods will be used during the classes: talk, conversation workshop, conversational lecture, paper presentation, discussion
