The Most Recent Turns and Fashions in Translation Studies 1500-SDN-SP-JEZ-NZIT
The course is aimed mainly at familiarizing students with the latest turns and fashions in the discipline of translation studies. The required reading includes scholarly articles, parts of monographs or chapters that were published no later than five years ago.
Each class is devoted to discussing one text from the common list provided by the instructor and two texts chosen by students. The idea is to provide a critical summary of the text and to map it onto traditional paradigms and theories of translation studies. A special focus is placed on terminological and methodological aspects. Students are encouraged to comment on the texts, thus gaining a deeper understanding of the subject through the sharing of ideas, opinions, and diverse perspectives.

Assessment criteria
Each student is to give an oral summary of two texts of their own choice. Additionally, to pass the course, the student needs to write a critical summary of a relevant text.
The texts should be published in one of the journals listed in the “Bibliography” section or taken from recently published monographs published by prestigious international publishing houses.
Two absences are allowed.
