Biohydrometallurgy - W 1400-225BHMET-W
Lecture: 1. Metal occurrence in nature (a) ore types and their origin, (b) biogeochemical cycles. 2.Mechanisms of biological sorption and accumulation. 3. Industrial processes dispersing heavy metals into environment - problems with environmental pollution. 4. Organisms able to metallic species transformation. 5. Bioleaching of metals with microorganisms. 6. Biohydrometallurgical processes in industrial scale (technology, economy). 7.Possibility of heavy metal removal from sewage sludge and production of natural, mineral fertilizer.

Assessment criteria
Assessment is based on the exam, which deals with all matters mentioned during lectures . Single choice test with 1 or 2 open questions (60% of correct answers is needed to pass the exam). 2 absences allowed
