Parasitism and symbiosis 1400-215FWOR.PiM
Parasitism as different form of symbiosis: examples from animals. Origin of parasitism: from parasitic Prokaryota (Monera) to Eukaryota (microbial protists and parasitic animals). Parasitism within the new phylogeny of eukaryotes; biodiversity of apicoplexans. Evolution of virulence. Complex life cycles: accident or adaptation. Ecology of parasites: from individuals to communities. Parasitism in man-made ecosystems.
