Natura 2000 - a framework of nature conservation in Europe -W 1400-126N2OPE-W
The classes are dedicated to people whose future work will be related to nature conservation, i.e. primarily employees of state institutions and offices dealing with nature and environmental protection, non-governmental organisations, scientific institutions and companies dealing with, for example, EIA, operating both in Poland and in other European Union countries. Under the current legal conditions, the Natura system is becoming a fundamental tool for nature conservation in EU countries.
These classes are a very useful introduction to other specialised subjects, such as ‘Inventory and nature valuation for EIA purposes’ or ‘Methods used in nature conservation and nature monitoring’.
The lectures will be held in Warsaw. General information about the Natura 2000 system will be presented – its origins, legal basis, establishment, functioning and management of Natura 2000 areas, protected natural habitats and species. Subsequent lectures will cover an overview of natural habitats from Annex I of the Habitats Directive, plant and animal species from Annex II of the Habitats Directive, and bird species from the annexes to the Birds Directive. Their characteristics, distribution, identification methods, threats, conservation status and protection methods will be presented, with particular emphasis on habitats and species found in Poland.
