Present-day coastal processes of the Baltic Sea and their sedimentary record 1300-WWPBB2L1
Field-excursion focused on present-day coastal processes such as accumulation, erosion, wave action, littoral currents and aeolian activity in the shore-zone of the Baltic Sea. During this excursion students have an opportunity to observe both the accumulation shore-zone at Dębki and Łeba, and the erosional shore-zone at Jastrzębia Góra and Rozewie.
Practical exercises such as drilling on peat and lake accumulation plains, sampling of sands consolidated with epoxy resin, pebble shape analyses and measuring of currents and flow directions are carried out during the field-trip.
Moreover, the students have an opportunity to listen the special lecture connected with ecology and environmental protection of the Baltic Sea provided by the academic staff from the Hel Marine Station (Institute of Oceanography, Faculty of Biology, Geography and Oceanology, University of Gdańsk).
