GIS in the Earth sciences 1300-SZD-WGISNZ
During the classes, students will learn about the capabilities of ArcGIS and QGIS programs and the possibilities of using them in the analysis of digital elevation models in geomorphology and Quaternary geology.
During the classes, students will learn where to look for spatial data and how to analyze a DEM (calculating exposure, slope inclination, generating morphological profiles, building 3D models, classifying landforms, detecting landforms). Additionally, they will learn how to export data, prepare visualizations and "printable" versions.
The end result will be self-made digital maps and reports from the analyzes performed, which will be the basis for passing the course.
Classes will be held using ArcGIS and QGIS software and free analytical tools available on the Internet.
