Application of photocatalysis in the degradation processes of polymeric materials 1200-PROJ1-MSOS
The project consists of: syntheses of new polymer materials and studies of their degradation via photocatalytic reactions in model systems and pfotodegradation with and without semicondactors. The effectivity of the degradation processes is analyzed using size exclusion chromatography (SEC).
As a result of the project, students get fundamental knowledge on (bio)degradable polymers, mechanisms of their degradation in the environment, and methods of separations techniques hyphenated with detectors analyze these processes.
During the project, the students will also be familiarized with new polymerization techniques allowing to obtain environmentally responsive and degradable polymers as well as with teniques of degradations of the polymers.
Students will get to know: principles of searching for literature data, formulating research hypotheses, principles of their verification and methods of interpreting the obtained results.
