Methods of membrane preparation, classification of the membrane methods. Basic types of membrane apparatus. Porous membranes for micro-, ultrafiltration. Nonporous membranes in nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. Ion - exchange and liquid membranes. Gas permeation and pervaporation techniques. The areas of current practical application of the membrane methods, related especially to separation, concentration mixtures and environment protection. Application of the membrane reactors and catalytic membranes in biotechnology.

Students will acquire knowledge of current state of theory and practice of the membrane separation methods their application in industry, technology, biotechnology and medicine, students can explain the mechanism of separation in membrane, technical difficulties connected with ususing membrane methods in practice
