Specialization Seminar 1200-2CHMSEMS1M
During the specialization seminars, students prepare an oral presentation on the biomedical issue they propose. The prepared presentation should be presented to the public during the class. Each presentation will be followed by a discussion on the presented issue .
Total student workload: 4x30=120 hours, including:
class participation: 30 hours

Learning outcomes
The student knows and understands: K_W13 (basic algorithms, IT tools, and databases used in scientific research and calculations); K_W14 (ethical principles and standards related to scientific and teaching activities); K_W17 (general principles of creating and developing forms of individual entrepreneurship using knowledge in the field of natural sciences); K_W18 (basic concepts in the field of intellectual property protection and patent law. Knows the basic concepts in the field of industrial property protection); K_W19 (basic tools and methods of data acquisition, processing and presentation, as well as issues related to security and privacy on the Internet).
The student is able to: K_U3 (work in a team (including interdisciplinary teams) with an awareness of responsibility for jointly performed tasks related to teamwork); K_U12 (independently acquire knowledge and develop professional skills using various sources, including those in a foreign language); KU_13 (prepare oral presentations and written papers in Polish on selected topics, including a description and justification of the purpose of the work, the methodology adopted, the results and their significance in the context of other similar scientific/research works, using basic theoretical approaches and various sources); KU_14 (express opinions on professional issues and argue in their favor both in professional and non-professional circles); KU_20 (use professional literature, databases, and other sources of information, and be able to assess the reliability of the information obtained).
The student is ready to: K_K01 (continuously improve their knowledge and independently search for information in literature, including foreign-language sources); K_K02 (adhere to professional ethics and require others to do so, convinced of the importance of professional behavior); K_K04 (critically evaluate scientific and popular science content); K_K05 (determine the scope of their knowledge and skills and improve their professional and personal competences); K_K06 (fulfilling social and professional obligations, co-organizing activities for the benefit of the social environment); K_K07 (critically assessing the level of advancement of one's knowledge (in case of difficulties with solving a problem independently, consulting experts) and independently undertaking and initiating simple research activities).

The seminar will be graded based on:
-quality of presentation (substantive and formal);
-activity in scientific discussion.
