Specialization Seminar - Physical and Nuclear Chemistry 1200-2CHFIZRSA2M
Preparation of oral talks designed for the presentation of own research results or the reviews of chemical literature: precision of measurements, correct chemical nomenclature and the purity of Polish language will be especially controlled and demanded. Chemical articles collected by students from literature will be helpful for the preparation of Master of Science (M.Sc.) dissertations.

Learning outcomes
The general objective of the course is to teach students how to prepare their own presentation on a specific topic in physical chemistry and radiochemistry, following best practices, and how to participate in scientific discussions. The seminar will preferably utilize scientific databases such as Web of Science or Scopus.
Specifically, the course will address the following learning outcomes:
KW01 - Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of chemistry at an advanced level, understanding its place in the system of exact and natural sciences and its importance for human development.
K_W05 - Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of in-depth concepts within a selected chemical specialization, enabling the use of methods and concepts appropriate for this specialization and enabling independent research.
K_W11 - Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current trends in chemistry and the latest scientific discoveries in a given chemical specialization.
K_U03 - Graduates can apply appropriate methods, techniques, and research tools within a given chemical specialization, necessary to clarify a given problem. K_U08 - Graduates can locate necessary information in professional literature, databases, and other information sources, and can skillfully assess the reliability of the information obtained.
K_U13 - Graduates can independently acquire knowledge and develop professional skills using various sources (written and electronic), including those in foreign languages.
K_U16 - Graduates can prepare oral presentations in Polish and English on topics related to selected chemical issues, utilizing basic theoretical approaches and drawing on various sources.
K_U19 - Graduates can independently learn and determine directions for further education.
K_K01 - Graduates are willing to engage in continuous training and independently search for information in literature, including foreign languages.
K_K04 - Systematically familiarize themselves with scientific and popular science literature to deepen and expand their knowledge, while being aware of the risks associated with obtaining information from unverified sources, including the internet.
Assessment criteria
Anonymous grades are given by all the other students participating in this course after the detail discussion of form of each presentation. The final grade is the average of all individual marks.
More than two excused absences are unacceptable.
Practical placement
none
