EChemTest- preparation 1200-1ETEKOM
During the classes, students will learn about the specifics of the European competence test EChemTest, which is an electronic test aimed at checking knowledge and skills in the field of chemistry at various levels of difficulty: secondary school, first and second degree studies. This test is developed and coordinated by the European Chemistry Thematic Network Association (ECTNA) and is used both in Europe and beyond. The substantive scope of tests in the basic fields of chemistry will be discussed, of which at least one should be passed as part of the course completion. At the first cycle level, students can choose tests from the basic fields of chemistry at level 3:
Analytical Chemistry 3
Inorganic Chemistry 3
organic chemistry 3
physical chemistry 3
Biological Chemistry 3
This course is mainly based on student self-study. The test will be conducted in the computer room in the faculty buildings. Other meetings will be held online. The classes are supposed to give students access to the platform that organizes the test and to test their skills in the field of self-education.
Total student effort: 50 hours
Contact hours (classes and consultations): 18 hours
Examination: 2 hours
Self-study: 30 hours

Learning outcomes
The student has advanced knowledge of selected phenomena in one selected field of chemistry. In addition, he/she independently expanded his/her information resources with missing elements in the scope of the relevant EChemTest tests, both in terms of content and language.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and Understanding
The student knows and understands:
K_W01 - the role and place of chemistry within the structure of exact and natural sciences and its contribution to the development of our civilization. The student knows basic chemical concepts and laws, chemical symbolism, nomenclature, and notation, and understands the representation of chemical reactions.
Skills
The student is able to:
K_U21 - independently acquire knowledge and develop professional skills using various sources (written and electronic), including those in a foreign language.
K_U24 - use the English language to the extent necessary to consult basic professional literature in chemistry and related sciences. The student has an intermediate (B2) command of English.
K_U26 - is able and prepared for continuous self-education and to independently search for information in literature, including foreign-language sources.
K_U28 - skillfully plan and organize their own work and teamwork to carry out joint tasks and projects, and is able to critically assess its progress.
Social Competences / Readiness
The student is ready to:
K_K01 - define the scope of their own knowledge and skills and to enhance their professional and personal competences.
Assessment criteria
Grade based on the result obtained after passing the EChemTest in one selected field of chemistry:
Analytical Chemistry 3
Inorganic Chemistry 3
organic chemistry 3
physical chemistry 3
Biological Chemistry 3
The exam lasts 60 minutes. The number of questions may vary depending on the selected field and the test itself. To receive a positive grade, student must receive at least 30% positive answers on the test. The percentage of the test directly corresponds to the grade:
30% -44% - 3
45% -59% - 3.5
60%-74% - 4
75%-89% - 4.5
90%-99% - 5
100% - 5!
