The lectures take place every Tuesday at 4pm in the main lecture room (Sala Kopernikanska) of the Astronomical Observatory, 2nd floor, at Al. Ujazdowskie 4 in Warsaw. There is tea and cake from 3:30 in front of the room.

Prerequisites (description)
(in Polish) Przedmiot „Seminarium magisterskie” polega na uczestnictwie w cyklu seminariów prowadzonych przez różnych naukowców z dziedziny astronomii i astrofizyki. Celem przedmiotu jest zapoznanie studentów z aktualnymi kierunkami badań, nowoczesnymi metodami obserwacyjnymi i teoretycznymi oraz problemami badawczymi współczesnej astronomii. Seminarium przygotowuje studentów do samodzielnej pracy naukowej, w szczególności do realizacji pracy magisterskiej, poprzez rozwijanie umiejętności krytycznej analizy treści naukowych oraz aktywnego udziału w dyskusji.
Student powinien posiadać podstawową wiedzę z zakresu astronomii i astrofizyki, obejmującą strukturę i ewolucję obiektów astronomicznych, elementy kosmologii oraz metody obserwacyjne. Wymagana jest znajomość podstaw fizyki i matematyki wyższej. Student powinien umieć czytać i rozumieć literaturę naukową (również w języku angielskim), wyszukiwać informacje naukowe, interpretować wyniki badań oraz formułować wypowiedzi o charakterze naukowym. Oczekuje się gotowości do aktywnego udziału w seminariach i dyskusjach naukowych.
