Theory of Relativity Seminar 1102-5sTWzgl
The General Relativity seminar in our department was started by Leopold Infeld and since then it has been held every year. At present the seminar is mainly devoted to problems and methods in the Einstein theory of gravity. Main subjects are the black hole theory, relativistic cosmology, quantum gravity, asymptotically flat spacetimes and mathematical structures which can be related to the gravitational field equations. Among speakers there are members and PhD students of our department and other Polish institutes, as well as foreign visitors. Previous and planned lectures are listed on the web page

Learning outcomes
Students will become acquainted with modern research in General Relativity and related theories. They will extend their knowledge of mathematical apparatus applied in physics. Participation in the seminar helps in choosing a subject of the diploma work and teaches students how to prepare their own talks in the future.
Assessment criteria
Evaluation: systematic attendance and a written description of one of talks.
Practical placement
none
Bibliography
Books and papers suggested by the seminar speakers.
