Seminar on "High Energy Physics" 1101-5sFWE
This is the basic seminar devoted to the current experimental and theoretical research in Fundamental Interactions Physics. Both current research done by the Warsaw physicists and the review seminars are given there. Main participants are the physicists, Ph. D students and undergraduates from Institutes of Experimental and of Theoretical Physics, Warsaw University and from the Soltan Institute of Nuclear Studies.
The name of the seminar is historical and dates from 1960, when professors Marian Danysz and Jerzy Pniewski started it.

Learning outcomes
The successful student:
KNOWLEDGE
- lists main successes and problems of the Standard Model
- describes main research directions in the area of the particle physics
- understands experimental challenges of particle physics research
- understands the theoretical and experimental indications for Beyond Standard Model (BSM) physics
- describes different scenarios for "new physics"
SKILLS
- makes a critical judgement of the presented results
- suggests the possible methods for experimental validation of new theoretical concepts.
ATTITUDES
- understands the key role of experiment in the development of physics
- understands the need for running many complementary experiments for full validation of the underlying theory
