Soft Matter and Complex Systems Seminar 1100-5sSMaCS
The seminar aims to familiarise students with current research trends in the field of soft matter and complex systems. Classes take the form of seminar presentations prepared by invited guests, devoted to selected scientific articles or research topics. Each presentation is followed by a discussion. The estimated workload for students includes participation in classes and preparation of a final presentation.

Learning outcomes
1. Knowledge
After completing the course, students will:
– know and understand selected contemporary issues in soft matter physics and complex systems,
– know and understand research methods used in current scientific work in this field.
2. Skills
After completing the course, students will:
– be able to independently read and analyse scientific articles in the field of soft matter and complex systems,
– be able to prepare and deliver a scientific presentation in English,
– be able to analyse the assumptions, methods and conclusions of the research works presented.
3. Social competences
After completing the course, students will:
– be ready to actively participate in scientific discussions,
– be ready to independently deepen their knowledge and follow contemporary scientific literature,
– be ready for factual and precise scientific communication.
Assessment criteria
The course is passed on the basis of active participation in classes and the preparation and delivery of a short (15-minute) seminar presentation at the student seminar at the end of the semester.
