Culture and Language Class: Spanish at an Intermediate Level 3700-ISSC-CLCSI
The course aims to develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in Spanish. Its cultural component familiarizes students with a broad historical and social context of the Spanish language and culture. The introduction to Spanish culture through its regions and traditions aims to improve student’s ability to express himself in accurate Spanish, taking into account the sociolinguistic diversity of Spain.

Knowledge:
K_W01 Understands the cultural and social processes taking place in Spain and their relevance for the entire continent.
K_W03 Understands the historical and cultural ties between the countries and peoples of the northern Mediterranean coast and the rest of Europe.
K_W10 Has a structured, advanced, detailed knowledge of the culture and language of a selected Mediterranean region (Spanish)
Abilities:
K_U01 Is able to select and make a critical assessment of information coming from various scientific, popular science, journalistic and other sources.
K_U05 Is able to prepare an oral or written presentation taking into account the needs of recipients, in particular with the use of a range of digital tools; can present arguments to support her/his beliefs and knowledge in a logical and convincing manner.
K_U07 Is able to prepare written works taking into account the requirements for academic work.
K_U09 Is able to use the selected foreign language (Spanish) at B2 level, also in an academic context
Social competences:
K_K01 Is ready to undertake lifelong learning.
K_K05 Is ready to show respect for partners in the discussion and uses substantive arguments; understands the principles of tolerance and cultural differences.
Kryteria oceniania
Continuous assessment:
- Preparation for the classes
- Activity in class
- Home assignments
- Control tests
- Oral presentations
Course will be passed with a final test.
During the first semester 5 absences, and during the second semester 4 absences are permitted (if classes are held in a block during one day, each 2 hours will be treated as 1 absence). Consecutive 2 absences require obtaining credit, more absences are grounds for failing the course.
