CM1 - Assessing and Evaluating YL Language Teaching and Learning 2300-GPTE-CM1-YLAE

Students are advised to plan plenty of time for reading. There is a minimum requirement for the academic reading that is need in order for students to pass. The reading list is included in the Course Plan, available from USOS. However, it is important to note that as new research is published, the teacher can change some of the items on the reading list during the term and will inform the students about that.
Please note that the Course Plan will be adapted to meet the needs of each group of students.
Efekty kształcenia
By the end of the module it is expected that students will be able to:
• define the nature of the construct they wish to measure;
• identify the distinguishing characteristics of a range of different types of language assessment methods;
• select appropriate assessment methods for specified criteria;
• design reliable and valid assessment tools for reading, writing, speaking, or listening to meet a specified need;
• evaluate language assessment processes for their professional needs and use them effectively in their practice.
Kryteria oceniania
The assessment methods selected for this course aim to:
1. Enable the students monitor their progress
2. Provide opportunities for formative feedback
3. Provide the teacher with summative information about the students progress and effort
4. Expose the students to a variety of assessment methods and provide them with an experience of receiving formative evaluation embedded in process pedagogy.
The assessment deadlines will be advertised to the students in the first session.
To pass the subject, students will be required to complete two portfolio tasks, two assignments and be present in minimum of all but two sessions per semester. The exact details and criteria will be discussed in class.
There is a word limit for each assignment which the students are required to adhere to. Assignments which are shorter or longer than the word limit + or – 10% will not be accepted.
