Oferta dydaktyczna Instytutu Muzykologii odzwierciedla szerokie spektrum subdyscyplin muzykologii. Głównym celem procesu kształcenia jest wyposażenie studenta w rozległą i spójną wiedzę historyczno-muzyczną obejmującą czasy od starożytności do współczesności. Pozwala to absolwentom studiów na odnalezienie się w różnorodnych sytuacjach zawodowych. Dwa główne obszary przedmiotowe studiów obejmują muzykę klasyczną i rozrywkową (która staje się w ostatnich latach coraz istotniejszym przedmiotem zainteresowania muzykologii na świecie) oraz ludową i tradycyjną (kultur pozaeuropejskich). Integralnym celem procesu kształcenia jest wytworzenie umiejętności analizy i interpretacji zjawisk historycznych w kontekście społecznym i kulturowym. Jednym z istotniejszych celów kształcenia jest nabycie przez studentów umiejętności analizy różnorodnych technicznych aspektów dzieła muzycznego. Aby umożliwić osiągnięcie tego celu wszystkim studentom, w tym również coraz liczniejszym, którzy nie posiadają żadnego wykształcenia muzycznego, do programu studiów wprowadzony został przedmiot pozwalający nadrobić braki w przygotowaniu praktycznym, a tym samym zrównujący szanse studentów na osiągnięcie satysfakcjonujących efektów procesu kształcenia. W dziedzinie muzykologii systematycznej celem kształcenia jest przekazanie podstawowej wiedzy w zakresie psychologii i antropologii muzyki. Jednym z ważnych celów procesu kształcenia jest opanowanie umiejętności pisania tekstów, zarówno fachowych, jak i popularyzujących wiedzę o muzyce.

Przewidywane możliwości zatrudnienia (wskazane na podstawie badania losu absolwentów): instytucje kultury, takie jak np. rozgłośnie radiowe (szczególnie Program II Polskiego Radia), stacje telewizyjne, prasa, firmy fonograficzne, domy kultury, filharmonie i analogiczne instytucje, Narodowy Instytut Fryderyka Chopina, biblioteki muzyczne, sklepy muzyczne.

Możliwość kontynuacji kształcenia: studia muzykologiczne II stopnia, studia II stopnia na innych kierunkach (zwłaszcza humanistycznych) zgodnie z zainteresowaniami studentów, studia podyplomowe.

Liczba punktów ECTS konieczna do ukończenia studiów na danym poziomie: 180

Liczba punktów ECTS obejmująca zajęcia do wyboru: 76

Liczba punktów ECTS, którą student musi uzyskać na zajęciach wymagających bezpośredniego udziału nauczycieli akademickich i studentów: 145

Learning outcomes

I. Knowledge – a graduate:
– has a structured general knowledge of terminology, theory and methodology of musicology various sub-disciplines;
– knows and understands basic methods of analyzing and interpreting different creations of musical culture applied in selected research traditions, theories and schools;
– understands the character of musical language, its complexity and the historic and cultural variability of its meanings; is aware that different cultures have various concepts of the essence, language, meaning and function of music;
– has a basic knowledge of the main directions of the development of musicology as well as its most important and up-to-date achievements.
II. Competences – a graduate:
– is able to search for, analyze, assess, select and use information in the field of musicology with all of its sub-disciplines making use of various sources and methods;
– has basic research skills allowing to solve research problems from various sub-disciplines of musicology, including: employing basic theoretical frameworks; formulating and analyzing research problems; choosing research paradigms, methods and tools; elaborating and presenting research results;
– is able to recognize different kinds of creations of musical culture, conduct critical analyses and interpretations of these creations using appropriate methods in order to determine their meanings, social impact and role in socio-cultural processes;
– has the ability to promote substantive arguments on chosen musicological topics, employing views of other authors as well as making conclusions in the field of musicology;
– can cooperate and work in a group assuming various roles.
III. Social competences – a graduate:
– is prepared to take responsibility for the maintenance of the heritage of the musical culture of mankind;
– is aware of the level of his/her knowledge and competences in the field of various sub-disciplines of musicology and understands that in order to responsibly fulfill social obligations he/she needs to continue education after the completion of his/her studies.
