Political philosophy 3501-FP20-M-OG
Course provides the knowledge about the basic problems of classical and modern political philosophy, giving students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with views, doctrines and political ideologies. During the course the following issues are considered: the role of power and its meaning; the concept of citizenship and the problem of political participation; the idea of political justice; political systems: basic categories of political philosophy: space (private, public; models of public space: classic, social, liberal; private space - ownership; time (development, progress, memory); freedom (positive, negative); historical forms of political community: Plato, brotherhood; Aristotle, friendship; contemporary interpretations of classical political philosophy: Eric Voegelin, Leo Straus, Hannah Arendt, Alasdair MacIntyre; modern republic; The Reason of State; state as the basic form of modern political community; Enlightenment, idea of progress; conservatism; political realism; theory of justice; libertarianism; communitarianism; models of political culture – liberal civility, constitutional patriotism; geopolitics; biopolitics; ideologies (nationalism); gender as a political problem; civil disobedience.

K_U06, creatively and innovatively use philosophical and methodological knowledge in formulating hypotheses and constructing critical arguments
K_U09, construct and reconstruct arguments from the perspective of various philosophical positions, taking into account the types of argumentation specific to each of them and noticing convergences and differences between them
K_U10, write creative texts based on self-selected literature, using original, innovative approaches and taking into account new achievements in the field of political philosophy
