Social and intercultural dialog 3500-JIS-DSiM
In the face of the growing wave of communication aggression in various areas of life, caused by the instrumentalization of social contacts and the resulting disappearance of natural interpersonal ties, the humanities face the dilemma of working out solutions to the progressing crisis of civilization. The response to the deepening alienation of man in the contemporary world and the resulting passivity or inability to independently resolve emerging conflicts and disputes are various forms of social dialogue, as participatory communication activities, restoring the relations of solidarity and cooperation in social relations.
The aim of the course is to provide tools for diagnosing cultural and social sources of conflicts as well as searching for and indicating linguistic strategies of constructive communication in the public and private sphere. These include discourses of a conciliatory nature, such as integrative negotiations, mediations and social consultations. They are communication means of a peaceful-oriented dialogue, the essence of which consists in crossing the particular interests of the parties and overcoming barriers and mutual prejudices. As forms of alternative dispute resolution, the discussed methods of communication serve to build reconciliation and cooperation in vast areas of life, introducing into them a climate of partner equality, sovereignty and trust as the basis of social agreement in pluralism and freedom.
