Practical Spanish I 3305-PNJH-11
The program has been established on the basis of general premises that aim of which is to develop, systematize and consolidate students' basic language skills, destined to make them acquire phonological, communication and grammar abilities in oral and written language, as well as the essential knowledge of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking countries.
Student at the first year:
I. understands statements regarding topics related to everyday life; communicates in common situations; understands the main meaning of the statements heard or read and finds specific information in simple statements for the purpose of their reproduction or transmission;
II. understands information and descriptive texts about his environment and everyday life; understands relatively simple texts about his studies and interests; finds specific information in generally available materials and in those related to his studies; understands different types of correspondence, especially private letters;
III. can take part in an ordinary, typical conversation, using, if necessary, the help of the interlocutor; participates - without prior preparation - in conversations on topics related to everyday life and in common communication situations, independently maintains the conversation on usual and on familiar private topics (personal life, studies, interests); presents his opinion and exchanges information about known themes and comments on current socio-cultural events;
IV. is able to write a brief descriptions of events and activities (also in the past tense), as well as letters and other short texts concerning everyday life; fills in surveys, forms, etc.; writes short essays on the topic he is familiar with.
V. is aware of the specificity of the Spanish language as opposed to the Polish; percieves the heterogeneity of registers, the importance of understanding the style and tone of speech for the interpretation of its individual fragments, the different function of diminutives, etc.

The student mastered in writing and speaking the lexical and grammatical material at A1 and A2 levels with B1 elements, according to the Common European Framework of Refference for Languages.
- knows the basic vocabulary and expressions from the hispanic civilizational and cultural area;
- uses grammatical structures at the levels A1 and A2 with elements of B1 (presente de indicativo, presente continuo, preterito perfecto, pre-indefinido, pretest imperfecto, pluscuamperfecto, futuro imperfecto, el potencial, el imperativo, el modo subjuntivo, the secuence of tenses, reported speech, the first and the second conditional sentences, phrasal verbs, the use of prepositions, pronouns, and articles, the coherence of the grammatical gender and number)

a) in the spoken language:
1. Can formulate short statements based on sequences of basic phrases and sentences.
2. Operates on a limited repertoire of learned structures necessary to provide information.
3. Freely communicates in the basic situations of everyday life
4. Is able to summarize a short text about the topics discussed in class.
5. Expresses opinions and exchanges information referring to topics known to him.
b) in the written language.
1. Is able to prepare a short written statement

3. Is able to write an essay on subjects the vocabulary to which has been delivered during the class.
4. In writing uses correctly a lexical and grammatical material at A1, A2 levels with B2 elements according to Common European Framework of Refference for Languages.

Assessment criteria
The condition of the approval in the first and second semester is:
- attendance and activity during the classes (2 absences allowed);
- getting a min. 65% of the 40 points possibile to recah in both semestres. The final result consist of:
• control tests (4 per semester) 20 p.
• written works (summaries , essays) - 10 points
• presence and activity - 10 p.
The final exam after the second semester is composed of:
A. Written exam, that includes the following parts:
1) lexical cexercise;
2) listening comprehension;
3) reading comprehension;
4) test checking the grammar corectness
5) essay
B. Oral exam, in the form of a student's short speech and a dialogue with the examiner maintained within the subject given.
The final grade will consist of:
a. written exam
b. oral exam
c. the approval of the classes
representing respectively: a. 60%, b. 20% and c. 20% of the final grade.
Detailed assessment criteria will be given in the course of the classes.
During each of the stages of assessment, there’s being taken into a serious consideration the requirement of shaping in the students the level of awareness of their knowledge, as well as the understanding of the need for constant development – both factors included in the learning outcomes. Thus, the ability to correct imperfections of ones own speech, a strive to express a given content with a higher degree of complexity and the capacity to held a dialogue, are being highly evaluated.
