European studies on music 3106-EUROM-OG
The subject of the lecture is a review of musical topics in the perspective of European cultures. On the one hand, there are presented ethnic sources and national/regional musical styles rooted in local music traditions of usually small communities; on the other hand, it will be discussed and analyzed the artistic heritage of musical compositions with the distinctive ethnic profiles particularly from the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The history of the pan- European studies and research initiatives would be investigated in the domain of folklore studies, music styles, music institutions, musical instruments, and the revival of ethnic musics.
