Applies scientific and case study experience how does the program work. Topics include the history of Twelve Step fellowships, behavioral analysys of people applying them in their lives, influence on self awerness, interpersonal relations and career efectiveness. A special emphasis will be put on distinguishing between voluntary and involuntary behaviors as an effect of processing ones life accordingly to the philosophy of the Twelve Steps. Each class will be dedicated to one step. Discussion will have place within the time of class and through a mailing group established specifically for this class. Gaining empirical experience will be introduced by active listening assignmengts dealing with physically being present in a Twelve Step program self help group meeting and by downloading speekers share audio files from the internet. The course will introduce the challenges and opportunities involved in the delivery of Twelve Step programs in the community and in institutional settings. Emphasis is placed on stimulating awareness, interest and inquiry into the historical trends, issues, controversies and realities of the Twelve Step programs for substance abuse and addictive behavior individuals. Attention will be given to the following issues: the history of Twelve Step programs, how many people use the program globally, how and why it works, effectiveness, assets and chalenges. Readings from the personal literature of addiction and recovery through the Twelve Step programs will be provided for deeper understanding. Generally speaking students that will pass this course will have grand knowledge about how to work with clients or with themselves using the Twelve Step program. I feel it is a unique chance to take a course and recieve a package of a tool that you can use in therapy, coaching, and self growth. Specific objectives: - acquiring knowledge about the Twelve Steps and how and why they work - understanding of psychological processes underlying working the Twelve Steps - becoming familiar with basic Twelve Step literature
