EM-Body in an audiovisual culture 2300-MS1-EM-CKA
This subject is dedicated to the issues of body in audiovisual culture.
The main analyse is a quality one and it focuses on the body issues in audiovisual culture, predominantely on media messages about body image, modern women and men rule models, nudity, advertisemnts using body image as a tool of promotion, creating human body acoording to patterns promoted by media; the andogyne phenomenaon and fashion as a psychological-sociological phenomenon. We discuse the pros and cons of the present of human body in media.
The analysed examples of body issues are taken form books concerinig body image problems, magazines, , advertisements (commercial and social),movies.
This subject is a suplemnt to the "Body art" seminar.

Learning outcomes
Knowlegde:
- Student knows philosophical and sociological theories concerning body issues.
- Student has knowledge about the women and men body image patterns promoted by media.
- Student knows the what is the essence of media message about body image.
Abilities:
- Student understands all problems that are discused at the classes is willing to talk about them.
- Student can make her/his own opinion about the body image problems from pegagogical, aesthetic and ethic point of view.
- Student thinks criticcaly about the body image problems.
- Student presents her/his opinion in an interesting way.
Social abilities:
- Student works individually and in a group.
- Student presents her/his work effects in public.
- Student comunicates effectively with others.
- Student easely speaks in public about the certain problems.
Assessment criteria
In order to get a grade student is supposed to prepare and present in public a short presentation. Student is free to choose the specific topic of her/his presentation among the body image in media problems.
The final grade consists of: being present at the classes, active work and prepareing a presentation.
