Regional hydrogeology 1300-OHDR501
The lecture consists of a general and systematic part. The general part includes the issues concerning on: history of regional hydrogeological studies in Poland, hydrogeological reconnaissance of the country with particular reference to regionalization and cartographical descriptions, methodology of hydrogeological research, rules on the usage of input data materials (hydrogeological data bank, archives) and stationary observation (monitoring), characteristic of climate in Poland and its impact on the hydrogeological conditions, hydrographic and hydrological characteristic of Poland, the rivers flow, anomalies and their relation to geology.
The systematic part includes: detailed hydrogeological characterization of the various Polish regions.
The classes are concentrated on: familiarization students with the process of analyzing and description of hydrogeological research results in different geological and hydrogeological structures and synthesizing them in the region scale.
Type of course
Prerequisites (description)
Learning outcomes
After completing the course (lectures and exercises) a student:
- describes (briefly characterized) the hydrogeological conditions of particular regions of Poland
- compares the regions of Poland in terms of groundwater resources
- classifies the aquifers in terms of exploitation capability in particular regions of Poland
- analyzes the causes of spatial variability of mineralization and groundwater chemistry in Poland
- explains the origins of Polish mineral water in relation to geological structure,
- critically analyzes the various Polish hydrogeological divisions.
Assessment criteria
The examination consist of two stages.
To be admitted to oral part of the exam a student need to get a pass of the exercise and the written exam.
