Social dilemmas and evolutionary games 1000-1M17DS
Groups of humans, institutions etc. often face situations in which individually rational decisions lead to group nonrational outcomes. Such situations are considered as social dilemmas. Various types of dilemmas (e.g., Prisoner's Dilemma, Tragedy of the Commons, Volunteer's Dilemma) and their solutions will be discussed using of the theory of strategic and evolutionary games. Evolutionary games descibe evolution of large systems, and may serve to solve the social dilemmas. We shall introduce basic mathematical tools of evolutionary games, the relevant discrete dynamic systems and ordinary differential equations, and discuss their applications to studies of social dilemmas. We shall consider multiplayer games, and games on networks The influence of random factors on the evolution of will be also discussed
