Teorie nauk społecznych a archeologia - ENG 3100-SZD-TNSA
This course will provide an introduction to the use of theory and method in the discipline of archaeology, both in the present and the past. The participants will be given an overview of the history of the broad theoretical trends that have characterised archaeology since its inception. The main focus for this course is the practical methodologies that have been developed to overcome the unique challenges presented by archaeology, namely the inherent difficulties in using the archaeological record to reconstruct past social practices. Such approaches include chaîne opératoire and object biographies. The course will cover past and present methodological frameworks for a range of archaeological data including artefacts, ‘missing’ artefacts – i.e. material culture made of organic materials, the mortuary sphere and the archaeology of place.
