Students will learn theory and practice concerning relationship between coinage and power, archaeology, technology, iconography, currency and early economies, legislation concerning coins and archeological finds. They will understand the contextual archaeology and numismatics, different interdisciplinary methods including chemical and metallurgical analysis, statistics and digital humanities in interpreting coins and their finds. They will also learn symbolical, ethnological, political and social meaning of the coinage and coin use as well as its economical function.
Kryteria oceniania
The lecture ends with an exam in the form of a 45-minute quiz with 45 questions at the end of a winter semester and/or oral correction exam in the second term.
You will get 45 randomly selected questions. There are 4 answers to each question, only one of which is correct.
You will have altogether 45 minutes, that is, on average, one minute to answer a one-question.
You get 1 point (mark) for every correct answer, 0 points for incorrect answer. That means that altogether you can receive max. 45 points.
